Ealing
Our client at Little Ealing Primary School required a separate classroom to carry out 1-on-1 learning centre with their pupils. As the school was being fully utilised they were struggling to find space. Fortunately they had a standalone old toilet block/ welfare room that was underutilised & looking a bit shabby.
Design
A great design was put in place by Franklyn Nevard Associates to add a modern looking extension to the side of the old toilet/ welfare block. The new design was to match some of the modern blocks within the school site, with particular emphasis on light & the use of hardwood panelling.
The exterior was clad in high quality cedar cladding & this contrasted with dark aluminium frames to give a stand out modern look. The extension had substantial glass proportions to maximise light into the building.
The external extension had a composite deck run around it to maximise durability. Internally the new extension was knocked through to the old building to create a large, light open plan workspace.
Logistics
This was an extremely challenging project for us due to the critical timings. We had only 6 weeks to complete the entire build before the children returned. As the building was located in the centre of the playground it meant the site needed to be fully clear by the start of term. We were extremely proud to pull in all our skilled resources & achieve completion on time & within the schools budget.
